Volunteer with Us!

GET INVOLVED IN IDAHO!

Kokanee Outdoor Day 2012, August 18th

This is a fun, family friendly event in Idaho City and we need you to help make it a success! We are looking for:

-1 lead volunteer. This person will be responsible for coordinating other Sierra Club volunteers, setting up the Sierra Club booth and making sure the booth runs smoothly.

-3 Gyotako fish print volunteers. These three people will help kids make their very own fish prints. This is a fun and somewhat messy position!

-2 booth volunteers. These two people will greet those who show an interest in Sierra Club, offer them materials and answer questions.

Webmaster

This is an opportunity to put your techy and creative skills to good use! The Idaho Sierra Club needs a committed volunteer to build a website that is easy to use and aesthetically pleasing. This ongoing volunteer position would require 10 hours per month.

Water Sentinels Volunteer

2012 marks the beginning of our Water Sentinels program and we need you to help make it a success. We are looking for people who can commit to driving to and from the proposed CuMo mine site (past Idaho City) four times a year to do water quality testing. This will require moderate fitness for hiking in and out of spots.

We will provide the training for you on Saturday, June 2nd. Please RSVP to Katie at 208.384.1023 or katie.seevers@sierraclub.org. For more information on the National Water Sentinels program and their victories please go here: http://www.sierraclub.org/watersentinels/

Sound like something you would like to do? Great! Please contact Katie @ 208.384.1023.

Information on Chapter Executive Committee offices and elections.

Any member of the chapter may express an interest to stand for election to a two-year term of service on the Executive Committee (ExCom).  The ExCom is responsible for financial management, membership services, production of publications, and conservation, outings and political programs.  The ExCom meets three times a year.  Occasional conference calls and frequent e-mail communication are among the various duties and expectations of this position.

As early as practical in the first quarter of the year the ExCom receives the report of the Election Committee and seats new officers for the year (Chair, Vice-Chair, Council Delegate, Council Alternate, Conservation Chair).

This is a call for candidates for ExCom and election schedule. Interest in standing for election may be communicated to any current ExCom member, either as a self-nomination or by nominating someone who has given consent.  The Nominating Committee will review all requests for consideration and make recommendations as to which nominees shall be placed on the annual ballot.  Should the NomCom fail to act favorably on a request, upon submission of 15 signatures of Chapter members in good standing, the name shall be added to the ballot as a petition candidate.

At the early summer ExCom meeting, the Nominating and Elections Committees (at least three persons, at least one not an ExCom member – no candidates may serve on these committees) and their Chairs shall be determined.  The deadline for receipt of names and candidate or issue petitions by NomCom is the second Friday in July, 5pm Pacific Time.  The NomCom report of candidate names for the ballot shall be delivered at the autumn ExCom meeting which has often been held near Riggins, Idaho, and the expectation is that there will be at least two more candidates than positions.

Deadline for receipt of candidate statements to be published with the ballot shall be the third Friday in October, 5pm Pacific Time, delivered to the Chair of the Elections Committee.  The winter issue of Ridgelines shall contain the candidate statements and ballot.  Deadline for receipt of ballots is the first Friday in January, 5pm Pacific Time, Sierra Club office in Boise.

The Election Committee meets to count the ballots on the day after the deadline for ballot receipt, 6pm Pacific Time, Sierra Club office in Boise.
