About Us

The Upper Columbia River Group of the Sierra Club represents members in eastern Washington state, and northern Idaho including the areas in and around Spokane and Colville, Washington, and Coeur d'Alene and Sandpoint, Idaho. We are growing rapidly, with 1,900 local members in the Group at present.

Our strong conservation efforts focus on three primary issues: water concerns impacting our rivers, lakes and the Spokane-Rathdrum Prairie Aquifer (the sole source of the region's drinking water); wilderness designation and protection in the region; and threatened and endangered species such as wild salmon, grizzly bears and mountain caribou. In addition, we're focused on the commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the Lewis and Clark Voyage of Discovery, and the subsequent impacts upon our natural world.
