Protect Gray Wolves under the Endangered Species Act
Gray wolves in the Northern Rockies regained protections under the Endangered Species Act after a federal judge in Montana struck down the 2009 delisting by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. This decision restored ESA protections to approximately 1,400 gray wolves. That protection is now threatened by several legislative actions attempting to undermine the Endangered Species Act.
Since the court decision, at least three controversial bills have been introduced in Congress that would amend the Endangered Species Act to remove protections for certain populations of the gray wolf. These legislative fixes would set a dangerous precedent. The Endangered Species Act relies upon science-based decision making, not politically-motivated legislative 'fixes.'
Take Action to tell your representative to stand strong behind the Endangered Species Act and the Gray Wolf.
