Take Action:The following are FOOD AND AGRICULTURE TOPICS FOR INCLUSION IN BOISE'S COMPREHENSIVE PLAN "BLUEPRINT BOISE" that you can promote at the meetings. Preservation of Agricultural Land Food Security: include food in disaster prevention and disaster preparedness Encourage Food Production, Processing, and Distribution (both large and small scale) as essential strategic industries that are less prone to boom and bust cycles Community Gardens: in parks, apartment complexes, office complexes, utility right of ways Easy Access to affordable food stores in neighborhoods Farmers Markets: expand number to serve many neighborhoods, include a permanent year round farmers' market downtown Edible School Gardens Community Bread Ovens, custom canning facilities Greenhouses, including geothermal or solar, to extend local growing season A Demonstration Farm Green Roofs and Roof –top Gardens Partnerships w/ non profit organization and neighborhood associations to establish and maintain community gardens; incubate small scale food production, processing and distribution enterprises to benefit low income people; food and ag education for children and adults
